Friday Furlough Ride-SJC to SD
Ok, the weather is heating up, this is the last month of our Friday Furloughs, and we need to get rid of our bellys. Pablo and I deceided to kick off the summer with a long bicycle ride from Downtown San Juan Capistrano and ride the Coast Highway to San Diego. This ride is around 70 to 80 miles depending on our final route into San Diego where we will take the train back to San Juan Capistrano.
This is a beatiful ride along the coast and we will past through the citys of Dana Point, San Clemente, Camp Pendelton Marine, Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solano Beach, Del Mar, the infamous Torre Pines Hill, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and then into Downtown San Deigo. Below is the profile of the ride last year.
As you can see, at about 55 miles into the ride we hit “the hill”…. from sea level to about 450 feet over about 2 miles. It will be like riding up a 40 story building.
I’ll try and post about every 20 or so miles with some pics and an update. You can also follow usreal time because we will have Big Steve’s SPOT with us (click on the Current Location tab up above to learn what SPOT is). So come along for a virtual ride and encourage us with some comments – otherwise, we may just stop in Solano beach at the micro brewry and have some beers and never make it to San Diego….
ok guys no I say no beer till S.D. you can do it. have fun
