The Adventure Begins

Time for someone else to blog as you all know my blabbing by now.

Joyce’s post:

I arrived in California Wednesday night – 30 minutes early. Little Brother was keeping track of my progress via his real time airline app and was curbside to pick me up when I walked out of the airport. Who could ask for better service?

I spent Thursday relaxing and setting up his new smoker and when he came home from work we packed up the suit case and saddle bags. Jim has a system for packing that works for him and I just followed directions. I can only say that we are not over packed. There is room for only bare necessities and nothing more. But he is letting me take my iPad. Earlier he didn’t know if there would be room for both of ours

The Spot tracker is updated with all our information. The bike is gassed up. Tickets and reservation info are all packed. Stopped at the AMT so we have enough cash. After a good night’s sleep, we are up and ready to go.

LOVE IT!!!! And the glasses match your hair!! I see you got some boots, too. And is that a special purse…or perhaps your gloves. I’ll be watching….

  • Hadassah:

Yay! Look forward to following you on you’re trip. I’m excited for you. I know you’ll have a great time:)

  • John, Sharon and the Axeman:

You will get use to the Almighty Bungholio after 1000 miles or so. Some staples are to stop every hour for coffee, no need to pack anything you can buy at Walmart once you get there and keep the hotel room at 12 degrees and all will be good. Oh BTW buy ear plugs at Walmart, you’ll need them! Have a great trip

    • JimmyV:

Lol, thanks for giving her the tips!

    • Joyce:

Don’t forget I’m related to this guy. I was his second mother. Where do you think he got these traits from? And to think he’s slipping and keeps the room only at 12 degrees! Good thing I have 1000 miles to straighten the boy out

  • Tanya:

OMG Your sis is so cute! Have a great time!

  • janniev:

OK, SPOT has punched in, or my system has. It looked like you guys were riding around the driveway for an hour, but I see you made it to I-15 and are ON YOUR WAY!!!

Unfortunately, I’m stuck at work with multiple fires to put out. At least I’m familiar with this part of the ride and it’s the freeway for the beginning anyway.

Two Valentine’s on the road together slapping’ leather and twisting’ the throttle!! This is really cool! Joyce and Jimmy have a great time.

I’ll follow you whenever I get internet.

  • Claudia:

Hi just saw your post! Have a great time room! I am having a Derby party tomorrow night and drinking mint julips while I cheer on my horses. I have 6 numbers in the betting mix: 1st and 2nd place boxed if that means anything to you. You will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo — have a margarita for me! Love, C

    • JVK:

Claudia. I had several margaritas for you. We were here at Ceasars Palace and saw the end of the Derby. Hope your horse won

  • janniev:

I see you’re sight-seeing in Death Valley. Where are the pics? I should be there as the official photographer. I’m gonna dig out my pics from the trip Jim & *I took in the 80’s…beware!

  • janniev:

Wait…actually looks like you might be at Furnace Creek. The sleuthing begins. It cuz I wanna be there, too. Especially since it’s 6 pm & I’m still at work (boo hoo for me, eh?) Sourse maybe if I was paying more attention to my data instead of your ride….

  • Judi:

Great to see your face. This will be a great adventure. Keep us posted and we’ll check in often. Just back from a yogurt run and a little computer time. Love ya, Judi
