A Day At The Canyon
Joyce
We spent the day at the South Rim taking the shuttle bus further along the rim. The pictures tell a better story than any written description. And even they dont do it justice. We didnt get up early enough to see the sun rise (no surprise) but we did get down to the Hopi look out point for sunset.
We tried to take a helicopter ride over the canyon at 4::00 but the weather did not cooperate. The afternoon forecast at the rim was possible thunderstorms. Although the day had been great up until about 2:00 when the sky darkened and the winds started gusting. I kept calling the tour expecting that they would cancel, but they said they were going. Unfortunately, the tour office number was up in Las Vegas and our tour left from a little airport outside the park. So we put on our riding gear and went to the airport, which gave me a chance to experience riding in the rain. At least it wasnt a down pour and we didnt get drenched. Jim had his foul weather gear on and he shielded me from most of the rain. And of course when we got to the airport they had cancelled our tour – so no helicopter ride. We went back to the park and about an hour later the whole thing blew over. Sun was out and it was as if the whole thing had never happened.

Love the videos, man, I wish I was on vacation with you guys!
GREAT video…Jimmy V stepping up his game! I like it.
I, like Botz, am now “Jonesing” to drive that road and check out all the beauty – inspiring.
So psyched that the trip went as well as it did – as they say “get out and do something”!! Amen.
It just keeps getting better!!! Dennis & I have been talking about going there for YEARS so when I mentioned that we had to really do it, his response was “Yes, but not on a motorcycle.” I want to take the train out there, then perhaps we can rent a convertible like Joyce & Judi recommend.
Anyway, what a great trip!!! I’m jealous of all the bonding time you guys are having under such spectacular surroundings. Myabe you’ve started a trend…you’ll have to take all your sisters on a road trip…me next!!
