We had a relaxing morning at Furness Creek sitting in the sun just outside our hotel room, playing with our iPads. We left around nine and our first stop was Dantes Peak which affords a magnificent view of the valley and surrounding Black Hills. You can see Jims video (video was posted previously)
From there we headed to Vegas. After our first Nevada gas station (which was all about Area 51 – Alien tee shirts,, souvenirs, posters – very strange) there were more and more signs of civilization but still mostly scrub brush and cactus. Then suddenly rows and rows of houses with red roofs. Soon there were malls and we were definitely back from nature
The Strip was swarming with people and the traffic was stop and go. We found our way to Caesars Palace and finally made it to our room. This place is huge. We did some exploring before we had our best dinner so far at Mesa Grill, Bobby Flays southwestern restaurant – perfect for Cinco de Mayo. Then on to see Sir Elton. Jim got us fabulous seats. High tech stage and screen and definitely high tech piano. It was a wonderful concert. Afterwards we took a stroll down the strip so I could see it in lights. Like Disney on steroids. Drinking tourist everywhere.
Leave it to Jimmy, Starbucks in Vegas! Elton John at 65 can still rock the house. He is still a great showman! Looks like you are having a great time. Keep the shine side up.
Lol, knew you guys would like the fabulous Starbucks!
Ive never been to vegas. So glad the concert was good. Whats your temp?
It was mid 80 s. sunny and bright
Wow! Disney on steroids is right! It was all neon & glitz 25/30 years ago (whenever I was there) – it’s all high tech glitz now. Some things never change, though – people everywhere with a drink in hand. The concert sounds fabulous. “Saturday Night” kept going through my head every time I thought about you guys. This is Jim’s stompin’ grounds, after all, so I would expect no less than THE BEST from him.
Enjoy Zion – then on to the Grand Canyon! I promise not to cancel your rooms now that Jim fixed the video and we got to skype.
I saw Elton John and Billie Joel when they were touring together. That was a great show. I alwasys think of Rocket Man when Elton comes to mind because of the summer I spent waitressing in the bowling alley lounge and they always played that song when the band took a break ( on the jukebox ). What a fun job that was!!
Looks like you are having a wonderful time. Brother/Sister bonding time!!!! Yeah!!!!!
I can only assume your internet sucks and/or you’re having so much fun you don’t have time to share. Whichever the case, I hope the weather is treating you well and you’re having a BLAST!!
Looks like you’re almost home. What a fabulous adventure. I can’t wait to hear more about Zion and Grand Canyon…and the ride home, of course.
