Great day riding. Had breakfast in Mineral Spring and we were on the road by 9am to head into the park. First stop after the visitor center was the Sulfur hot springs and a hike.

Hanging around Mammoth by Kelani
We started the day by (Steve and I) going for a short walk up the ski slopes. BS had to wrestle a momma bear in front of her cubs. Sorry no pictures, having a problem uploading. By the time we returned everyone else was finally up, even Jimmy V. We went into town for groceries for the hike. Took the bus from hell, 180 degrees inside, NO a/c, no windows to open and down a typical curvy mountain road ( can anyone say “Ralph” lol) Jimmy and John stayed on the bus to meet us up with us down the road. We got off and started on our 30 mile hike, well it was only about 4 1/2 miles. Hiked up to Devils Post and then down to Rainbow Falls. It was a beautiful hike and warmed up on the way back. Met up with John and Jimmy for lunch at Red Lodge restaurant. Then the dreaded bus ride back up was worse this time, we were all feeling nauseous. Rode back to the condo. We decided the jacuzzi was needed cuz everybody feels better after a jacuzzi. John then challenges Steve to a ping pong match where he accused BS of cheating. ..lol (so we all know who won) Took a short break, and lots of tall tales being told. Schat’s Bakery run then it was off to dinner and another night of Mammoth Rocks. We saw a great Van Halen tribute band Atomic Punks. Another great day comes to an end.
Today’s Ride Summary…by BS
Met at John and Sharon’s at 7 am, it was overcast and drizzly. Hit the road at 7:20. Traffic wasn’t bad until we hit Norco, split traffic to the 60. Then up the hill and into the sun, quickly warmed up to 100 plus degrees. Stopped for lunch in Lone Pine at the Grill, food was good. Stopped for water so that we could hook up the air conditioner. Then back on 395 to Bishop where we stopped for a caffeine fix at Starbucks (of course) and then checked out the local gun store. On the way the air was smokey and hazy from the fires. Then up the hill towards Mammoth where it cooled off nicely, mountain air always smells great. Beautiful scenery and the condo the John found is Awesome!!! Well we are off to dinner…
